I Open Access

The open access publishing movement is moving forward rapidly and I Open Access is here to showcase the individuals around the world who support the motivations behind the movement. “I Open Access” does just what the name suggests – it puts the “I” in open access. It is a people-focused website that highlights a community of active, enthusiastic, informed supporters. From ABC’s to APC’s, “I Open Access” aims  to connect authors, students, librarians, and societies with the information they need to stay on top of the OA world, and to publish in OA journals.

Right now, advocates from around the world are sharing their OA stories through I Open Access as part of a global awareness campaign. Share your own story today and aid in raising awareness of open access to academic research. You will also have the opportunity to connect with like-minded advocates through your personal “OA Story” profile page.

All About Open Access

The Future of Scholarly Publishing – Now

Open access publishing allows free access to and distribution of published articles where the author retains the copyright of their work by employing a Creative Commons attribution license, therefore removing any barriers to access. As presented by Springer and BioMed Central, the open access model is expanding rapidly due to the benefits it offers.

  • Research that is freely available online
  • Free to read, copy, distribute, and use (with attribution) any way you wish
  • Author retains copyright
  • Complies with self-archiving mandates
